HEALTH & WELFARE

PRESS RELEASE:

The Joint Club Health Report is now available   HERE

From The Pointer Club.

www.thepointerclub.co.uk

The Pointer Club in collaboration with the Pointer Club of Scotland and the Pointer Club of Northern Ireland will be launching their new Health Questionnaire at Crufts; this is a survey to establish breed traits/health issues.  Please visit them at their breed stand in Hall 1 next to Ring 7/8, trade stall No. 7A. Please make use of this by collecting your questionnaire(s) on the day or downloading it from the website

From the joint Pointer Clubs.  “To date little information has been gleaned regarding our breed, the Pointer, other than the Animal Health Trust/ Kennel Club survey a few years ago. The breed clubs are responsible for protecting the welfare of our chosen breed, therefore we would like to improve the understanding of any health issues which may or may not affect The Pointer.  Our objectives are: To monitor our breed and provide a focal point for any concerns also to gather views from all Pointer lovers to benefit our breed in the future

The questionnaire will be completely confidential and information collected will be processed by fully qualified veterinary professionals who wish to help the Breed Clubs improve available knowledge regarding the health of the Pointer.  Mrs Jennifer Owen B.Vet.Med MRCVS will be responsible for the data; a qualified veterinary surgeon who has been in practice since 1993. She has owned Pointers for several years. As a veterinary surgeon she would have to keep all personal information given in the survey confidential.   Information will be stored on a confidential database, analysed and only released as statistical data back to the participating Pointer Clubs.”

This has been an expensive venture with fundraising going on for some considerable time. If you would like to make a donation to the cause this can be done through the Pointer Club, on the stall on the day or by post to the Secretary.
